POETRY: I REMEMBER YOU, YOU’RE NOTHING BY PAUL TRISTRAM

Jealous temper tantrums are your trade
but self-pity is the ace up you sleeve
whenever your vileness shocks and upsets
the Decent Folk whom you are deceitfully
and slyly persuading to Pawn for you
in another ruinous Game Of Chess
where the Stakes are never actually yours
but someone else’s Sound Reputation.
